A serving police officer has been charged with child sexual assault offences which allegedly occurred on the Central Coast.
It's alleged the offences involved the sexual and aggravated indecent assault of a nine-year-old girl back in 2009.
Following investigations, a 48-year-old senior constable attached to a Local Area Command in the Northern Region, was arrested at Newcastle Police Station yesterday.
He was charged with sexual intercourse person under ten (x1), and aggravated indecent assault (x2).
He was granted conditional bail to appear in court later this month.
