The fastest man in history could be running on field with the Central Coast Mariners!

Gold medallist sprinter Usain Bolt is on the verge of signing up to a six-week trial.

If the 31-year-old is good enough, he would receive a one year contract with the Yellow and Navy.

Mariners CEO Shaun Mielekamp says it’s been four to five months in negotiations.

Despite his star power, Bolt will be treated like any other player.

“We’d be very interested in his stamina and longevity that’s there, but can he kick a ball?” Mielekamp told SeaFM.

“At what level is he at as a footballer – that’s the important part.”

It follows German and Norwegian clubs eyeing the Jamaican national.

“We’ve heard a lot of feedback from those coaches that have been training him,” Mielekamp said.

“There was enough reason there to say ‘he wants to come over and have a trial, let’s have a look at it’.”

Bolt's stint would be supervised by former Manchester United Assistant Manager, Mike Phelan, who was yesterday announced as the Mariners' new Sporting Director.
