Brisbane Water's top cop has called out bad Coastie behaviour after a third officer's been assaulted in the line of duty over as many days.
A man's fronted court today charged after allegedly throwing a wheelie bin at police in Terrigal overnight.
He reportedly needed to be capsicum sprayed and tasered before he was brought under control.
It follows an officer being punched by a 26-year-old man in Ettalong early Friday morning, leaving him with a broken nose and fractured eye socket.
The incident has pulled the recovering cop off the front line.
While another member of the law enforcement team was head-butted by a 19-year-old man at Tascott Friday evening.
Brisbane Water Police District’s Superintendent Anthony Joice says it’s just not on.
“Police are not punching bags for people affected by drugs and alcohol,” he told SeaFM.
“I’m sure the community shares my outrage seeing police injured in the course of their duties.”
The maximum sentence for assaulting police is five years imprisonment, jumping to seven years where injury has occurred.
