Police are appealing for public assistance following the serious assault of a man on the corner of Kurrawyba Avenue and The Esplanade, Terrigal on Saturday September 15.

The victim, a 21-year-old male, along with his group of friends had been socialising at a nearby licensed venue and after leaving that venue remained in the area after purchasing some takeaway.

About 1:45am, the victim was approached by a male at the above location, who made a comment towards him and then knocked the food from his hand and pushed the victim.

Further words were exchanged and the male POI then punched the victim in the face causing the victim to lose consciousness, falling backwards and hitting his head on the concrete pavement.

The POI immediately left the area on foot towards the Haven. The victim was subsequently conveyed by Ambulance to Hospital where he was treated for concussion and a cut to his head, later being diagnosed with a bleed on the brain.

Brisbane Water police established a crime scene and Detectives are investigating the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information regarding the offence to come forward.

The offender is described as being, male aged 18 to 22 of Caucasian appearance, stocky build wearing a football (NRL) supporters jersey.
