The Cancer Council has released some world-leading research, pinpointing Cancer hotspots across the country via an online interactive map.

It's known as the Cancer Atlas.

It's taken the organisation 4 years to piece together, including data from the 20 most prominent cancers affecting Australia.

Individual towns and areas feature data specific to them, with the info showing rates of each cancers diagnosis compared to the national average.

it also includes what's been labelled 'excess deaths,' or deaths that could have been avoided with an earlier diagnosis.

One of our biggest concerns is in the Laurieton Bonny Hills area. While diagnoses of Liver cancer are 22 percent lower that the National average, there are 34 percent more fatalities.

Macksville-Scotts Head is one of the Mid north Coast's hotspots for Leukamia deaths, Kempsey, the Nambucca, and Wauchope also see rates of death well in excess of the national average.

Nambucca also sees higher rates of death as a result of leukaemia, so too Port Macquarie.

For Kempsey Pancreatic Cancer is the big danger when it comes to a lack of stopping the spread.
