As temperatures plummet into the minuses, there are many Canberrans in desperate need of clothes to keep warm.

The ‘Take One, Leave One’ community project has been set up by a group of ANU student volunteers to help locals in need this winter.

It encourages people to donate coats they no longer use, for those who need them most.

There’s a coat rack at the Canberra Uniting Church Early Morning Centre where people can leave coats they don’t use anymore, and those who need one, can take one.

If you’d like to donate a coat or other warm items, you can also drop it in the donation bin at The Food Co-op Shop & Café on Kingsley Street in Canberra.

But if you can’t get to the café, send the organisers a message to [email protected], and the items can be picked up directly from you.

What a fantastic concept!

It’s one many Canberrans are starting to get behind – with the posts on Facebook attracting lots of comments from people wanting to donate.

Keep up the support Canberra! Let’s use our coats and community spirit to keep people warm this winter.
