A Queanbeyan family’s struggling to come to terms with the brutal stabbing of their beloved dog in their own backyard on Friday.
Shell Wright shared the devastating news on Facebook.
“He wasn’t a barker, he wouldn’t hurt anyone,” Shell said.
“Our family is shattered, this person has taken away our best mate!”
The family believe Marley may have been approaching an intruder, before he was attacked.
Marley’s death follows a series of dog baiting incidents around Canberra.
It’s sparked outrage on social media, with this picture doing the rounds on Facebook.

The RSPCA is urging anyone who suspects their pets have been poisoned, to seek immediate vet treatment, and gather any possible evidence.
