With over 50,000 people expected to attend tomorrow’s Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial, locals are urged to plan their trips today.

Parking will be limited on site and there’ll be a number of road closures in place from 2am – 2pm.

Transport Canberra is offering free shuttle buses to and from the Dawn Service and National Ceremony.

There’s also something else for those taking part in tomorrow’s commemorations to keep in mind..

"Anyone who is wearing their Australian military service medals is eligible to receive a free transport Canberra ride on any service throughout Anzac Day," the War Memorial’s Media Relations Manager, Greg Kimball, said.

“Last year we upwards of 50,000 people and we'd be expecting a similar sized crowd tomorrow. We would encourage people to be aware of that, plan appropriately and dress appropriately for the weather as well.”

Just like in years past, that chilly weather is expected to strike on Anzac Day, with a top of just 17 degrees forecast for Canberra and showers.
