The RSPCA’s taken in an abandoned Border Collie found with suspicious injuries at a Fyshwick Café earlier this week.
The female black and white dog, aged one to two years, was found locked in a cubby house at the Stirato Bakery Café at 9am on Monday January 29.
The bakery and other nearby businesses have been helping with the investigation, and it’s understood they knew nothing about the dog or its owners.
A concerned member of the public took the Border Collie to a vet, who discovered she had suspicious injuries, and was underweight.
The dog’s since been taken in by the RSPCA.
Nearby businesses have provided CCTV footage that shows a car of interest in the area around 3:15-3:30am Monday morning, around when it’s believed the dog was abandoned.
The car, that could be a light coloured Mazda BT50 duel cab ute or similar, was seen stopping on Iron Knob Street near the loading dock behind DFO, opposite Chemist Warehouse.
Anyone with information that could help is urged to call RSPCA ACT Inspectors on 6287 8100.
