Do you like a good haggle? Are you good at it? Or, are you a bit of a sucker?

That’s the conversation Ryan and Tanya had on HIT 104.7 this morning, after Ryan dropped a bit of a truth bomb!

He discovered shoppers who DON’T try to score a cheap buy are given different coloured bags to show other stallholders that they’re an easy target!

Ryan and Tanya opened the phone lines this morning, with a number of people calling in with similar experiences.

Dylan spoke about the time he and his mate got ripped off in Bali.

“Ended up paying $50 for a cotton shirt which they’d pay around $2.50 for. They’d given us a brown bag on the first day and it turns out by the end of that day we came out of the markets and had spent almost $300,” he said.

“On the first day we had no idea about the currency but then by the second day, the keen shoppers we are, we figured it out with the bartering and stuff and started getting black and white bags.”

Jade also called in with her story. She’s been onto this scheme for some time now!

“I used to live in Asia as a kid and we learnt of it very early on. So anytime we travel around now, you know what they do, and I love bartering with people and you just play the game and it’s good fun,” she said.
