CANBERRAN IN FLORIDA DESCRIBES HURRICANE CHAOS

Hurricane Irma may have been downgraded to a category two storm, but it’s still leaving a path of destruction as it moves up the state’s west coast.

Power’s been knocked out to more than three million homes and businesses and at least three people have been killed.

Someone who’s witnessed a lot of the chaos is Canberra resident Kirrily Turner – she’s in Florida on uni exchange.

All the students at her university had to evacuate, with some sent to a hurricane-proof hotel, and others forced to sleep in classrooms.

Kirrily described the chaos to Ryan and Tanya this morning..
