It’s a move that may not come as a huge shock if it was introduced in somewhere like Braddon or Kingston.
A café in Melbourne has caused a social media storm after charging men an 18% tax and giving women priority seating.
It’s part of the Brunswick vegan café’s bid to address the gender pay gap around the country.
The owner of Handsome Her, Alex O’Brien, said the tax is only in place one week per month and it isn’t compulsory.
The move has still attracted fiery reactions from people labelling it discrimination, with many concerned it’ll only further widen the gender divide.
While the café’s copped plenty of outrage, there’s also been lots of support.
