An investigation’s underway into another suspected bikie-related shooting in the capital.
Police got reports shots had been fired at a unit block in MacLaurin Crescent Chifley, around 6:30am on Monday.
It’s understood, a man with gunshot wounds also sought help from the BP service station on Melrose Drive in Lyons.
Acting Superintendent Shane Scott said a man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
“We believe this is a brazen and targeted attack on this man and we don’t believe that the wider public is at risk at this time.”
Police suspect the attack was bikie-gang related.
“At this point in time, we won’t tolerate it. We won’t tolerate attacks on people in brazen circumstances where the wider community could be injured or hurt,” Acting Superintendent Scott said.
“Ongoing OMCG related activity in the ACT, we’re not immune to it. We follow all inquiries and all investigations to the very end.”
Witnesses and drivers with dash-cams in the area, including Melrose Drive, are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Taskforce Nemesis, set up to monitor bikie-related activity, is investigating the shooting.
It’s understood to be the first since a series of bikie-related incidents in Canberra’s south last year.
