A petty theft attempt has landed a 13-year-old boy in a bunch of trouble, charged with armed robbery after allegedly trying to rob a 7-Eleven store with a toy gun overnight.
The teenager entered the service station along Brygon Creek Drive at Upper Coomera just before 6pm on Tuesday, demanding the attendant hand over cigarettes and a lighter.
When the worker refused, the boy allegedly produced a toy gun.

A bystander stepped in to apprehend the youngster and a struggle ensured, the boy allegedly kicking and smashing a glass window.
Police arrived a short time later to take him into custody, he has since been charged with once count each of armed robbery and wilful damage.
