Sunshine Coast Residents Told To Evacuate Due To Rapidly Moving Bushfire

Residents of a Sunshine Coast suburb have been told to evacuate their homes as crews fight a rapidly-moving bushfire.

Authorities were notified of the fire, near the Bruce Highway at Aura, about 1.30pm on Friday, and say it is uncontrolled and moving quickly in an easterly direction towards Aura.

Aura residents are being urged to enact their bushfire survival plan, and those without a plan should evacuate now in an easterly direction.

"It will be very hot and windy and as the fire approaches it will become increasingly difficult to breathe," Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said.

They have also warned power, water and phone services could be lost for several hours.

It is expected some homes may be lost in the blaze.

More than 10 crews are working to bring the fire under control.

A water bomber was expected to arrive at the scene later on Friday afternoon.

The fire has caused traffic delays on the Bruce Highway as some southbound lanes south of the Caloundra Road exit travelling towards Caboolture have been closed.
