Forecasters have promised a cracking day for Ekka to start today... Brisbane's expecting a sunny top of 28 degrees, with barely a breath of those usual Ekka winds.
“The weather forecast is just stunning, up to 10 degrees above the August forecast, and we hope everyone comes to the show and takes advantage of these perfect conditions", says show boss Brendan Christou.
In fact, there's nothing but clear skies for at least the next 7 days of the show, which will see 400,000 of us through the gates from when they open at 9am this morning.
For the first time, the Ekka boss says there's a Twilight Ticket on sale for $16, so you can enter from 6pm til late.
"Have that experience after work. Get some great food, and not have to worry about cooking at home. For the likes of teenagers and the younger kids, go to sideshow alley after school or uni..."
There'll also be TWO fireworks presentations.
“The Early Children’s fireworks at 6pm will make sure everyone gets a chance to see some fireworks after a big day out at show,’’ he said.
“Particularly the little ones who are often asleep before our major fireworks finale which ends the night show at 8pm each evening."
“We hope the early fireworks create new memories for the next generation who we hope will become lifelong supporters of the show.”
As for how to get there, public transport is your best bet with discounted travel for ticket holders ($6 return for adults, $3 for child/concession). Uber is also another option - it's offering $20 discounts for first time users who take an Uber to the showgrounds.
