There's a push for a park just 600 metres from where Jeff Horn trains to be renamed in the new world champ's honour.

Stretton MP Duncan Pegg has sponsored a petition pushing for the State Government to consider renaming the Stretton Community Park.

"What I need is as many people as possible to go online and sign the petition. There is a provision for petitions to be debated in parliament if there's more than 10,000 signatures"

"I'm hoping it won't even need to be debated. I am hoping we can just get this park renamed. But I want as many people as possible to show their support, get online and sign the petition"

If the change gets the go ahead, Pegg tells us there'll be a party to celebrate.

"I don't think you'll be able to stop the locals partying. Some of them haven't stopped since he won the other week, some of them still haven't settled down,"

"I can assure you, if we get the park renamed there'll be a massive party. I'll be the chief part coordinator, I guarantee that"

"I've been getting messages, calls, text messages, a lot of people are really really supportive"

"He's a Stretton legend and we need to get him recognised locally"
