Government Considering Implementing AVOs For Cyber-Bullying

Cyber-bullying changes could be rolled out across Queensland following the tragic suicide of a 13-year-old.

According to Nine News, Education Minister Grace Grace has said that the state government could adopt an 'AVO'-style order to ban repeat offenders from social media.

A Senate committee into criminal consequences for cyber-bullies will release a report today.

This comes just a month after Emily Stick, a teenager from the Gold Coast, took her own life after being bullied.

“We’ve established a task force because this is a scourge in our community," Ms Grace said.

“It doesn’t stop when you leave the school gates and we need, as a community, to address what we can do to prevent anything like this ever happening in the future.”
