A little girl has been rushed to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital with serious facial injuries, after reportedly being mauled by a dog west of Brisbane.
Emergency crews were called to a house at Redbank Plains at about 7.45am.
Queensland Ambulance says the girl is younger than school age.
Ipswich City Council Health, Security and Regulatory Services spokeswoman Cr Sheila Ireland has confirmed a dog has been taken from the home.
"Ipswich City Council has seized a staffy cross breed dog following an attack on a young girl at Redbank Plains earlier this morning."
"The attack was reported to council by Queensland Police Service at 8.26am and is believed to have involved a dog owned by the victim’s family. The incident is under investigation."
