Timeline Announced For Bendigo Rail Upgrades

The timeline for the 91 million dollar upgrades of the Bendigo-Echuca line as part of the Regional Rail Revival has been announced.

Works will begin later this year and the upgrades to the sleepers and tracks between Bendigo and Echuca to be done by 2020 to allow trains to travel at 130km/h compared with the 80km/h limit currently.

While signalling works will be completed at Bendigo, Epsom, Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat stations by the early part of 2021 to allow a greater number of trains to run.

81.9 million dollars is being provided to the project by the federal government after the funds were released in March while the state government’s covering the remainder.
