The Bendigo Manufacturing Group has thrown its support behind a push from the Greater Bendigo council to forced acquire land for the proposed Marong Business Park.

Council will vote on Wednesday night to seize the land from the Carter family, who’ve owned the 313 hectare allotment on the Calder highway for more than 100 years.

The BMG say the region is at risk of losing manufacturing services and transport jobs to other areas if the development does not go ahead.

The latest data for V/Line services on the BENDIGO line has been released with punctuality increasing slightly for March.

The number of services arriving on time went up point 2 per cent to 82.9 per cent for the month - 9 per cent below the threshold.

While reliability rose 1.6 per cent to 97.9 per cent - above the 95 per cent expected mark.

A historic old hotel been’s destroyed by fire on Saturday morning near HEATHCOTE with fire investigators believing power lines came into contact with the 150 year old building.

9 CFA tankers were called to the site on the corner of the Northern Highway and Heathcote-Nagambie road in Argyle around 10am and took just over an hour to bring the blaze under control.

Nearby NBN contractors managed to alert two people inside the converted Lake hotel at the time with the Northern Highway closed for 5 hours in both directions.

Two people from the BENDIGO BANK are preparing to ride 1100 km's this week from MELBOURNE to the BAROSSA VALLEY to raise money and awareness for Type 1 diabetes

GAVIN OREILLY and ANTON MARRONE pedal to the BAROSSA arriving on Friday before taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation's One Ride - which the team has raised over 80 thousand dollars for.

BENDIGO lawn bowler AARON WILSON has taken home the gold medal in the mens singles after defeating RYAN BESTER on Friday night at the COMMONWEALTH GAMES.

The 26 year old rallying from a 7-2 deficit early to record a 21-14 victory over the pre-tournament favourite.
