Central Victoria's News Fix - 11th May

A 58 year old man arrested on child abuse charges in March has been found dead in Heathcote on Monday.

Police aren't treating his death as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

He was meant to be charged on summons after being arrested as part of an Australian Federal Police investigation which saw 20 people charged across the state for offenses involving child exploitation material.

Five members from the Kerang SES have been transferred to a neighbouring unit following allegations of bullying and safety breaches.

They’re claiming a camera was installed in a location where people usually change without being consulted and that new members have been allowed to go out and assist with callouts despite not having sufficient training, breaking OH&S regulations.

VICSES has denied the rumours and have organised from a department of justice representative to help calm the waters between the aggrieved 5 and the Kerang Branch.

It’s taken emergency services around 90 minutes to remove a 54 year old from her car after she crashed off the Calder Highway in Big Hill yesterday.

The crash happened around quarter past 1 near Belvoir Park Road with investigators believing the car swerved to avoid something on the road before colliding with a tree.

She’s been airlifted to the Royal Melbourne hospital with arm injuries in a stable condition.
