A Goornong woman’s been treated for minor injuries after she was assaulted by a man wielding a frying pan yesterday.

The man in his 20s with a tanned complexion allegedly broke into the woman’s home on Englishs Road just before 3pm and fled the scene on foot with a small amount of cash while wearing blue jeans and a black jumper.

The canine squad searched the vicinity last night to no avail and anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Crimestoppers.


The health workers union is claiming management at the Echuca Regional Hospital are preparing to slash the amount of security guards by half.

The allegations come with the hospital undertaking a staffing review which could reclassify officers as cleaners, resulting in a wage decrease.

The HWU say they told the hospital to hold on their review until the union finishes a statewide review into the reclassification of staff to save money on wages.


Central Victoria is set to get a good drenching of rain over the next few days as a cold snap hits VICTORIA.

Around 5mm fell overnight and another 10 is expected over the next couple of days with the low pressure system bringing high winds and cool temperatures.
