The Bendigo Health Board has terminated the employment of Chief Executive Officer John Mulder after a meeting on Wednesday night.
In a statement, issued to media on Thursday morning, The Board has thanked acting CEO Peter Faulkner for leading Bendigo Health through "a complex and extremely challenging" time.
"The Board unanimously resolved to terminate Mr Mulder’s contract of employment with Bendigo Health. Mr Mulder has been notified in writing of the Board’s decision earlier this morning. Accordingly Mr. Mulder has now ceased to be an employee of Bendigo Health. The Board has afforded Mr Mulder due process and procedural fairness in reaching this decision."
Mr Mulder was included in an Independent Broad-Based Anti-Corruption Commission Investigation, Operation Liverpool, with a report released on March 9.
Implications made against the former-CEO included that he'd "engaged in conduct contrary to the Victorian Public Sector Code of Conduct."
The report also identified "organisational and systemic corruption vulnerabilities" at Bendigo Health, prompting the hospital to begin its own independent investigation.
