The City of Greater Bendigo will conduct a 12-month hard rubbish collection trial, which is expected to begin in early 2019.
It's said to be operating under a pay-for-service model and on an appointment basis. But residents with concession cards would be eligible for one free collection in the 12-month trial period.
Council will be looking into expressions of interest from contractors who may wish to provide the service and they'll be pushing for a reduced landfill percentage.
The trial is being introduced after 5000 residents completed a council waste survey.
