Albany's emergency services have been given a boost with the opening of a new state-of-the-art career fire and rescue station yesterday.

Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan said the new station on North Road, completed at an estimated cost of $7 million, provided Albany's firefighters with an excellent base to serve the community.

The new, purpose-built station can accommodate 12 career firefighters and the facility includes technologically advanced training equipment, an innovative personal hygiene facility and a large six bay engine room.

The station is strategically located to provide improved response times, with easier access to the major road networks in and around the Albany area.

Mr Logan said the McGowan Government was committed to supporting the continued growth of Western Australian communities such as Albany and the Great Southern region.
