A Semaphore and North Haven butcher has won the coveted award for Best Ham in Australia.
Initially taking out Best Ham in SA, Saint Meat took out the National People's Choice Award in the boneless category.
The award was part of the Christmas Ham Season Launch and guests were given the opportunity to assess some of the country's top traditional bone-in and boneless varieties.
The Australian PorkMark Ham Awards judges noted its nice shape and colour, mild texture and gentle balanced aftertaste in a blind tasting.
Shannon Anderson who founded Saint Meat in 1995 said "I'm still numb after receiving the news".
"It's just great for the Saint Meat team to be acknowledged with this award as we do everything in house" he said.
There are 12 different processes involved in producing Saint Meat's hams and of course they only use South Australian pork.
Mr Anderson also added that the public need to get in early to secure their award winning ham for Christmas.
"We're really pleased with the quality of this year's hams and we're encouraging people to order now, to ensure they have the perfect centrepiece for their festive feast" he said.
