That sweet, sweet Violet Crumble is now officially back to being owned and produced by the locals after Australian confectionery company Robern Menz purchased the brand from Nestle earlier this year.
Production kicked off yesterday at the new factory in Glynde, relocating all equipment and materials from the previous location in Melbourne.
“The number one priority is to make sure that recipe is unchanged since 1913, that Australians have known and grown to love,” says the companies CEO, Phil Sims.
When the deal was first signed back in January, Premier Jay Weatherill stated: “Like many South Australians, I love Violet Crumbles, and it’s great we can now all enjoy these chocolate bars knowing we’re also supporting South Australian jobs.”
An extra 30 staff members have already been employed, with the number expected to grow.
