Turns out South Australians might not be the greatest drivers, we’ve topped the list of car accidents caused by crashing into stationary objects across all of Australia.
The latest study taken out by AAMI has analysed claims filed with the insurance company and revealed that out of the 15,000 accidents on SA roads, majority of them involved collisions with stationary objects.
We’re talking nose to tail, collisions while reversing, failing to give way, collisions with PARKED CARS… It’s all pretty bad.
26.31% of accidents involved a collision with a stationary object and 8.91% involved a collision with a parked car.
According to AAMI spokesman Michael Mills, it comes down to us being too distracted:
“Driver distraction continues to be a leading cause of collisions with stationary objects, parked cars and nose to tail prangs.”
