A bizarre plan to change the name of South Australia has been pitched - and it's very familiar.
The suggested new name? Adelaide.
Bill Muirhead, the agent general for South Australia in London, reckons Adelaide, Adelaide could be as famous as New York.
Mr Muirhead made the suggestion while receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of South Australia, Adelaide Now reports.
“My point is we are really a city state. But we are on a land mass four times as large as the UK. Why not be ‘Adelaide, Adelaide’?’’
Three quarters of the state’ population live in Adelaide.
