Every Year 10 student in South Australia's public system will get a Government-funded laptop.
That's the announcement made by Premier Jay Weatherill this morning.
After last week's tour of the regions, he's on a school splurge this week visiting 100 schools, speaking to parents and teachers across the State.
The new program aimed at preparing students for their future careers will ensure Year 10, 11 and 12 students all have personal laptops by 2021.
$70 million will be invested over five years.
Students will be able to take them home after school to do homework and even keep the computers after graduating.
A trial laptop roll-out will commence for a number of schools in Term 2 with all schools added in 2019.
It comes a day after the State Government announced upgraded broadband speeds for all public schools and preschools in SA.
They'll have average speeds increased 10 times at a cost of tens of millions of dollars.
