Another local icon is set to close its doors.. or is it?
After 56 years of raising funds for worthy organisations, Telethon SA announced that it would finish up this financial year.
The charity - best known for bringing celebs and TV stars together for appeals on Channel 9 in the 60s and 70s is blaming the rising costs of the Home and Land lottery.
They've raised $28 million through the big prize comp in almost 60 years.
Apparently Renewal SA's decision not to donate land was the final straw.
But since the announcement, it's believed the State Government has made an offer to provide land at no cost.
It's hoped there'll be more to come from Urban Development Minister Stephen Mullighan.
