A severe weather warning has been issued for Adelaide and its surrounding suburbs as damaging winds and hail are expected to hit later this evening.
"For people in Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of Lower Eyre Peninsula districts.
"A strong cold front will sweep across South Australia tonight, reaching Adelaide late evening. The front is likely to produce damaging winds, squally showers, possible thunderstorms and small hail near and following the front.
"Damaging winds, averaging 50 to 65 km/h with gusts around 90 to 100 km/h, are expected to develop about southern coastal parts after about 6 pm today, then extend across the rest of the warning area overnight.
"Very isolated gusts in excess of 100 km/h are possible. Damaging winds are most likely to occur with showers or thunderstorms, in southern coastal areas and over elevated terrain. Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Kingscote, Maitland, Victor Harbor, Mount Gambier, Robe, Keith and Murray Bridge.
"Conditions are forecast to moderate in most areas during Saturday morning. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: move vehicles under cover or away from trees; secure or put away loose items around your property; and stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe."
