Created by the team at Ruby Red Flamingo, Australia's first single-dish restaurant opens in North Adelaide tonight.
No entree, no sides but with a choice of three Italian wines, Spaghetti Crab has just the one dish as its name spells out.
With fresh South Australian blue swimmer crabs and local San Remo pasta, this truly local dish comes from the recipe belonging to Carmela Ventura, wife of Vic Ventura - both trailblazers in the SA restaurant scene.
"I have cooked this recipe for my family and our friends for over 50 years and I am so excited that I can share our family tradition with Adelaide" said Carmela.
The serving will be a generous shared dish with substantial portions and an extra side serving of sauce in an iron pot.
They don't take reservations and diners are encouraged to shell their crabs and put their waste on the paper-topped tables that'll be crumpled up at the end and taken away.
"While it looks like a simple meal of spaghetti and crab, the flavours, the sauce, the perfect spaghetti, combined with friends and family sharing in the meal, remind me of our family table" Carmela said.
The Italian wines on the menu include a Montepulciano, Pecorino and Prosecco DOC.
The pop-up venue at 47 O'Connell Street, North Adelaide will swing open its doors at 5.30pm tonight and remain open for at least 6 weeks.
