7 Stellar Picnic Locations In Adelaide

Stop what you’re doing; pack a basket with your favourite snacks and a great bottle of red, and shove the kids, the husband, the parents, or just yourself and a good book into the car - it’s time for a picnic.

The long-weekend is creeping up fast and (thankfully) we’re staring down the barrel of three days of perfect weather, and if you’re like us and have a relaxing staycation planned, then how about you give these seven picnic spots a try!

1. Rymill Park, East Terrace

With BBQ facilities, a kiosk for your much-needed coffee, a playground, a rose garden, and row boats available for hire, Rymill Park is a perfect picnic spot for the whole family.

2. Elder Park, King William Rd

Nestled in the CBD, Elder Park is the perfect place to set up camp for a picnic. If you're keen for activities, there are also paddle boats and kayaks for hire, as well as plenty of walking tracks to choose from!

3. Adelaide Himeji Garden, South Terrace

Wherever you decide to lay down your mat here, you're guaranteed to be blown away with spectacular views. Unfortunately, while you want to stay all day, the gardens close every day at 5.30pm, so we recommend getting in early and making a day of the park!

4. Tusmore Park, Stirling St, Tusmore

Tusmore Park offers BBQs, a beautiful setting and even a shallow pool for the littles ones to either cool off or be introduced to swimming. The perfect place to unwind on the weekend.

5. Morialta Conservation Park, Morialta Falls Rd, Woodforde

After you pass the $5 entry fee, you're in bushland heaven! Be sure to pack your hiking boots though, with numerous walking tracks leading to serene waterfalls, it'd be impossible to not take a peek.
