The ultimate roadtrip.

The long roads, open spaces and warm climate of Western Australia make the state a great destination to go camping. It’s all about getting back to nature – and more often than not you’ll find that most of the state’s campgrounds have only basic facilities with just some space for your tent or caravan and a bush dunny!

So here’s how to make your camping experience in Australia's Coral Coast all the better, to truly appreciate your surroundings!

Practice Makes Perfect

The biggest mistake people make before they set off camping is not trying their equipment before they leave home. Pitch your tent in the backyard, shake out your sleeping bag and make sure all the lights work. One less thing for you to worry about!

Choose Your Vehicle Carefully

Be mindful of your journey. Australia's Coral Coast has some pretty extreme terrain. So if you’re towing a caravan, or crossing a riverbed, make sure you’re well prepared in the right vehicle. Get your car serviced if necessary.

Bring The Right Gear

Given the Coral Coast's warm climate all year round, most camping grounds across the region can be very hot and dry. Make sure you’re equipped with effective gear while travelling that is suitable for our conditions - you don't need your snow boots!

Take Your Own Water

Most campgrounds don’t have a drinking water supply – so ALWAYS carry enough water for your own needs – drinking, cooking and washing. You never know when you will run into a situation where you will need it.

Don't Forget These Essentials

Bring along nylon rope and duct tape – they come in handy for tent support and hanging wet clothes, while the tape fixes just about anything!

Pay Attention To Fire Bans

It’s also important to note that seasonally hot and windy conditions mean the risk of fire can be severe so fire bans are enforced. Be sure to check what you can and can’t do when you are camping, and always check the risk of a bush fire.

Plan Your Activities

Make sure you download information on the walk trails close to where you are camping – bush walks and exploring is a fun one for the kids!

Don't Forget About Your Pets

Camping is a fabulous pet friendly holiday, giving your furry friends plenty of space to run around. Always check if pets are allowed at the place you’re staying – more often than not, they are!

Check Your Tent

When it comes to packing up, make sure your tent is dry – mildew can damage it and make it smell musty. Make sure to air out your tent as soon as possible once you are home.

Enjoy It

Finally, don’t forget that camping is meant to be fun for all! Laugh at the mistakes, don’t get caught up on little trivialities – you’re there to enjoy the beautiful outdoors that Australia's Coral Coast has to offer!
