Surfers Paradise Esplanade closed as terror-proof bollards get installed

Ready for Commonwealth Games

Surfers Paradise Esplanade closed as terror-proof bollards get installed

From Monday 22nd January, Surfers Paradise Esplanade will be shut down for 6-7 weeks as high tech terror-proof bollards are installed down the glitter strip.

More than $1 million has been spent on 16 new retractable bollards, that sit underground, and will be deployed at major events including the Commonwealth Games, Schoolies, GC600 and New Years Eve celebration.

The security measure is state of the art and strong enough to stop a runaway truck in its tracks.

Post

Works to install the bollards have commenced today and the road will be closed between the roundabouts at Hanlan Street and the Soul building.

This road update is all thanks to Action Tyres & More.
